Pregnancy Week 9

The embryo is now approximately 24mm in length 9weekspregnant

Cartilage and bones have begun to form and the structure of the eye is underway. The tongue is also beginning to form. The intestines now begin to move out of the umbilical cord and into the abdomen. The fingers and thumb have appeared but are short and webbed.

You may start to experience some heartburn and indigestion as your body adjusts to the levels of pregnancy hormones. Your breasts nay feel sensitive and tender; a supportive bra can help to ease the tenderness. You may experience the thickening of your waistline this week, although you will probably not look any different to other people. As your womb presses down on your bladder you may feel the need to visit the toilet more frequently.

Pregnancy Week 10

The embryo is now approximately 30mm in length 10weekspregnant

The baby has now begun to move around, although you probably won’t notice this for a few more weeks. Fingerprints are already evident in the skin. Nipples, hair follicles and testicles or ovaries are also starting to form.

You are now a quarter of the way through your pregnancy and the time when you are most at risk of miscarriage is now coming to an end. Morning sickness is usually at its peak around now and increasing levels of progesterone may cause your gums bleed.
Your body is now retaining more fluid and the increased fluid in your eyes can cause temporary long or short sightedness

Pregnancy Week 11

The embryo is now approximately 41mm in length 11weekspregnant

Fingers and toes have all separated and baby can now swallow and stick out his/her tongue. Cartilage is now calcifying to become bone. The heart has almost completely developed and the eyes have fused shut and will not reopen until approx week 27. The lungs, although developing, are still very immature.

Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit. You may find that your appetite is returning as the morning sickness eases, certain smells may still bother you. Changes in hormones may cause mood swings and irritability.
